Radiant Roots is a creative wellbeing and holistic-living space where poetry, story, ritual, body-based practice and cultural memory are brought together with care. Rooted in heritage, healing and transformation, it creates gentle pathways for people to reconnect with themselves, with each other and with the wider landscapes, histories and communities that hold them.
As the commercial arm of NINE RED Presents CIC, Radiant Roots is the gateway into our store on the main NINE RED website. Through it you can enter the shop, book holistic health treatments and commission bespoke creative projects. This income helps to fund community‑based projects such as Bedfordshire Voices, BedfordSHARE, Bards of Bedfordshire and other poetry‑led programmes across the county.
That means Radiant Roots is not only about products or appointments. It is also a place for embodied creativity, shared reading, writing circles, poetry walks, intergenerational exchange and projects that invite Bedfordshire’s many voices to be heard, held and celebrated.

Holistic Health Treatments
Holistic Health Treatments at Radiant Roots offer gentle, trauma-aware pathways into recovery, resilience and self-development. Through LMNt energy treatments, Destination Wellness, Sound with Vision and Butterflies in Shades of Grey, these sessions support relaxation, nervous-system soothing and creative healing across mind, body and spirit.
Candles and Cosmetics
Within Al Khem I, candles, massage candles and skincare are approached as small daily rituals. Colour, fragrance and texture work together to create grounding moments that nourish both skin and spirit and extend the wider Radiant Roots ethos into everyday life.
Bespoke Workshops
Through Pen and Wax Paper, Radiant Roots hosts tailored workshops in poetry, creative writing, art medicine, mindfulness, herbal approaches and Sound with Vision experiences. These sessions are designed to be reflective, expressive and gently transformative.
Literature and Exhibitions
The literature and exhibitions strand curates prose, poetry, visual art and installations that explore heritage, justice, gender, memory and belonging. It creates space for stories, voices and under-represented experiences to be seen and heard.
Words, movement and community
Radiant Roots also holds a poetry-and-wellbeing strand shaped by Bedfordshire’s people, places and shared stories. These projects invite participants to write, listen, move, reflect and reconnect through creative practice that is rooted in community and held with care.
Bards of Bedfordshire
A welcoming writing circle at Wardown House, Museum & Gallery, nurturing new and experienced poets to tell Bedfordshire’s stories in their own voice. The sessions create an encouraging space for experimentation, feedback, confidence-building and the steady growth of a local poetry community.
BedfordSHARE: Bedfordshire’s Poetry Together
Our county-wide local strand of Poetry Together, BedfordSHARE is a free initiative that encourages schools and older people’s communities to connect, learn or write poems, and come together to recite them, share stories and enjoy tea and treats. Through this intergenerational exchange, we create an annual Ballad of Bedfordshire that gathers memory, voice and local identity into a shared living text. Download the BedfordSHARE pack.
Artful Nature – Shinrin-yoku
Forest‑bathing‑inspired writing sessions and poetry walks that weave together landscape, wellbeing, visual art and poetry. These experiences offer a slower, more attentive way of being with the natural world, using movement, observation and language to support calm, imagination and emotional restoration.
Poetry E.Motion
Dynamic poetry and movement sessions using breath, body and voice to explore emotion, resilience, healing and gentle transformation. Poetry is used as spoken affirmation as well as on-the-page writing, bringing words into conversation with movement and embodied awareness so that participants can access expression in ways that feel spacious, alive and restorative.
Holistic Health Treatments
Radiant Roots offers a family of holistic health treatments that support recovery, resilience and self-development. Together, these programmes create gentle containers for people navigating stress, trauma, transition or the desire for deeper alignment in their lives.
LMNt focuses on energy treatments that draw on light, colour, sound, herbal support and poetry affirmations to help restore balance across mind, body and spirit, creating space for relaxation, clarity and gentle energetic renewal.
Alongside LMNt, Destination Wellness offers a structured pathway into self-development and lifestyle change, Sound with Vision combines therapeutic sound and visual journeys to soothe the nervous system and open new perspectives, and Butterflies in Shades of Grey provides a carefully held recovery and creative-expression space for people living with complex experiences.
Candles and Cosmetics
Our candles and cosmetics are offered through Al Khem I, the energy cosmetics department of Radiant Roots. This collection combines ritual, adornment and self-care, with candles, massage candles and skincare created to support beauty, balance and personal transformation.
Inspired by alchemy as a psychospiritual science, Al Khem I products are crafted to nourish both skin and spirit. From illuminating body oils and balms to soothing, intention-infused candles, each piece invites you into a daily ritual of presence and grounded care.
Bespoke Workshops
Pen and Wax Paper is the workshop and exhibition department within Radiant Roots, where cultural heritage, creative practice and healing sit side by side. Here, workshops in art medicine, herbal medicine, poetry therapy, creative writing, mindfulness and Sound with Vision experiences are developed for communities, organisations and bespoke commissions.
Alongside standalone poetry and prose workshops, this strand now holds sessions linked to Bedfordshire Voices, BedfordSHARE and wider Poetry Together activity, helping people explore story, identity, place and belonging through reflective and embodied creative practice.

Alongside these, the strand platforms work emerging from Bedfordshire Voices, BedfordSHARE and Poetry Together, as well as community creative-writing and poetry-writing workshops, so that local voices and under-represented stories are seen and heard.
